Duration: 1 day
Location: Punta Gorda, United States

From USD
$10.00

Visitors will have the opportunity for a self-guided walk around and get up close and personal with over 100 animals.  Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary is the forever home to bears, tigers, lions, ligers, hyenas and many other exotic animals that were rescued or surrendered.  Enjoy the grounds, bring a picnic lunch if you'd like and stroll the sanctuary at your own pace.  Each animal's history is displayed on plaques in front of the enclosure to educate our visitors on how and why they were brought to Octagon.  None of the animals were born in the wild and many come to Octagon with medical and physical limitations.  None can be released into the wild because of those conditions.  The animals are very interactive with visitors.  Octagon is a true non profit and cared for by volunteers.  It's "The Wildest Retirement Home in Punta Gorda!!"

Visit: Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary And Rehabilitation Center, Punta Gorda, Florida

Take a walk on the wild side!!  As you enter our sanctuary, you will be greeted by one of our reception volunteers that will give you a brief informational talk about our sanctuary and what to expect while you visit.  When departing from the reception area, you are encouraged to take your time visiting with each animal and interacting with them as well.  You will be 5 feet away, and our animals are very friendly and love company!  As you make your way through the sanctuary, please read the information in front of the enclosures.  It will give you insight on how and why the animal was brought to Octagon.  Our animals are cared for by volunteers.  They get the best care and are loved by each and every one of us.  Your interaction with them will show that even after some of them endured years of abuse, they can still trust and recover.  It will truly move you.  You are more than welcome to bring a picnic lunch and dine with a tiger or lion!  We do have beverages for sale at the reception desk, but do not sell any food.  We recommend wearing comfortable shoes as you will be walking on sand/gravel terrain.  Walkers and wheelchairs are easily navigated through the grounds.  But ask that you watch your step, as you are walking on natural surroundings.  We encourage you to take photos.  Take your time.  At any given moment, the animals can do something cool!  Circle around as many times as you like.  You never know what you'll see!
